“…a comprehensive account of the abandonment of American prisoners…
and their subsequent betrayal by the American bureaucracy…”
Al Santoli, Infantry Sergeant, Vietnam, Three Purple Hearts, author Everything We Had and To Bear Any Burden

About Betrayed:

Betrayed is the story of the missing American POW/MIAs and the associated cover-up.
Over thirty thousand Americas were captured alive in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Cold Warm—but never returned at war’s end. They were left behind, abandoned, by top officials at the White House, State, Defense, and the CIA.

Betrayed digs deeply into the reasons why. Information gathered from behind the Iron Curtain tells how the American prisoners were used as guinea pigs in gruesome medical experiments – to train doctors, determine the effects of atomic radiation, and test experimental chemical and biological warfare agents. Tens of thousands of Americans were killed in experiments as brutal and horrendous as the atrocities and war crimes of Hitler’s death camps.

Betrayed documents the silence of U.S. officials respecting these war crimes and atrocities and their efforts to hide from the American public information on live American captives, what happened to them, and the U.S. policy to abandon them and remain silent about these horrendous war crimes and atrocities.

American officials abandoned American POW/MIAs rather than confront and embarrass Communist officials who held them captive at war’s end.

  •  Thousands of those missing not even counted.
  •  Efforts to rescue prisoners sabotaged and compromised.
  •  Massive breach of trust between the government and servicemen and their families.
Men abandoned to lives worse than death: slave labor, torture, and use as guinea pigs in horrendous “medical” experiments. Data from the highest Communist defector.
“I shuddered as Czech Gen. Jan Sejna told me how the Communists used American POWs in the most horrendous medical experiments…My anger exploded as I recalled the lies and stonewalls I had encountered, even as a Congressman, in trying to learn what had happened… the first book to comprehensively tell what happened…Read it.
Robert K. Dornan
U.S. Congressman 1977-1997
USAF Fighter Pilot 1953-1961, Rescue Pilot 1964-1966

From the resignation letter of Col. Millard Peck:

  •  That National leaders continue to address the prisoner of war and missing in action issue as the “highest national priority” is a travesty.
  •  The mindset to “debunk” is alive and well. It is held at all levels, and continues to pevade the POW-MIA Office.
  •  The entire charade does not appear to be an honest effort, and may never have been.
  •  The policy people manipulating the affair have maintained their distance and remained hidden in the shadows …
  •  This issue is being manipulated and controlled at a higher level, not with the goal of resolving it, but more to obfuscate the question of live prisoners, and give the illusion of progress through hyperactivity.
  • From what I have witnessed, it appears that any soldier left in Vietnam, even inadvertently, was, in fact, abandoned years ago, and that the farce that is being played is no more than political legerdemain done with “smoke and mirrors,” to stall the issue until it dies a natural death.

Typical comments:
…must read…work of great consequence…learn the truth about this darkest chapter in American history…ties together the pieces of the puzzle…A genuine chiller…Swept under the rug…the insider’s view…
